Food Service Information for Parents/Guardians

Your cafeteria crew is so excited to start serving your children again this year. I wanted to take time to share important changes with you, some of which were in the works before COVID-19 sent us on another path. We are changing point of sale systems this year to better serve your kids. Our new program will allow us to plan menus, track nutritional info and manage our inventory, recipes and allergens. In addition, we’re rolling out a NEW Food Service website and we are very excited about it. Our new web address is . Check it out. . . updates happen regularly so keep checking back.

Breakfast and lunch will be available based on student eligibility (free/reduced/paid) in all learning scenarios this school year. Plans for meal distribution are underway and will be communicated before the start of the school year through District social media, robo calls, emails, and our NEW website. Stay tuned for specific details, but in the meantime, PLEASE take time to submit a meal application to see if your family is eligible for free/reduced meal benefits. (applications will be mailed home with the District’s school calendar and available on the Food Service website) This will enable your students to receive meals seamlessly at the start of the school year. If your family does not qualify, and you would still like to participate in school meals, please open an account at . You may deposit funds into your child’s account on line or by sending a check or money order to Salem CSD Lunch Fund @ 41 East Broadway Salem, N.Y. 12865 Attn: Wendy Cary

We are no longer using MySchoolBucks as a payment system. If your student had an available account balance at the end of last school year, those funds will be transferred to K12PaymentCenter prior to school reopening.

If your students will be remote learners and you choose to have meals available for pick up at designated locations, PLEASE plan to follow directives by the District for “opting in” to meal service so we are prepared to serve you. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me. I can be reached at 518-854-6040 or
