Message fro the Interim Superintendent - Important Update to Mask Policy
August 2, 2021
Subject: Important Update to Mask Policy
Dear Salem Community,
As you may be aware, due to new evidence on the Delta variant of COVID-19, the CDC has recommended universal indoor masking for all teachers, staff, students, and visitors to schools, regardless of vaccination status. As we want to take all precautions to ensure the safety of our school community, Salem CSD is updating its protocols as follows:
Masks will be required indoors when classes are in session or students are in the building.
Students and school staff are not required to wear a face covering when utilizing outdoor spaces.
All students will continue to be required to wear masks while using school district transportation.
Please continue to take all necessary precautions to ensure your safety and the safety of others, including proper hygiene and social distancing.
We continue to wait for full guidance for the fall term and will communicate that with you as soon as we get it.
If you have questions, please check in with your building Principal. The health and safety of all students and staff members will continue to be our top priority.
Mark E. Doody Interim Superintendent
Salem Central School District 41 East Broadway, Salem, NY 12865
