Dear Fellow Community Members, Faculty, Staff, and Students,
On behalf of the Board of Education of the Salem Central School District, I am writing to inform you of a change in District leadership. Effective immediately, the Board has commenced a process to separate with the Superintendent of Schools, Dr. David Glover. While we work diligently to finalize the details of this transition, an Interim Superintendent has been appointed to lead the District through the 2021-2022 school year.
This action was made after much consideration, and we understand you may have some questions. However, like all personnel decisions, please know that we want to share as much information as possible, with the understanding that there is a process that must be followed and certain details that may not be disclosed. As of this time, the Board is not in a position to provide you with additional information beyond the content of this letter but rest assured that we are doing everything possible to ensure a smooth transition.
In the meantime, the Board has appointed Mr. Mark Doody to serve as the Interim Superintendent of Schools, effective Tuesday, July 20, 2021. Mr. Doody is the retired superintendent of the Hudson Falls Central School District and has served as a successful Interim Superintendent of the Granville and Voorheesville School Districts. Should you have any questions about district operations or your child's educational needs, please feel free to reach out to Mr. Doody via email at mdoody@salemcsd.org or at (518) 854-7855. The Board has full confidence that Mr. Doody will get up to speed quickly and lead all aspects of district operations.
As we transition leadership, the Board is working closely with our regional District Superintendent, Mr. James Dexter, and our school attorney, to provide expert guidance and support to the Board and the entire district to ensure as smooth a transition as possible. Realistically, we understand that this transition may take some time. The Board is committed to meeting the many needs of our learners and the needs of our community, both in the short and long term.
Thank you for taking the time to read this important letter and know that we will continue to keep you informed as we are able to share additional information.
Sincerely,
Anne Dunigan
Board of Education President
