Clinical social work is a specialty practice area of social work which focuses on the assessment and evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of mental illness and emotional and behavioral disturbances. Individual, group and family therapy are common treatment modalities.
As your NYS Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) I have extensive clinical experience from my time as a Psychiatric Social Worker at Glens Falls Hospital Center for Children and Families. During my time as a Psychiatric Social Worker I gained experience addressing topics such as, but not limited to, self harm, suicidal ideation with and without a plan, crisis intervention, trauma/abuse, anxiety, depression, grief, mood disorders, autism, anger/aggression, behavior management, healthy/unhealthy relationships, social media, mediation, diversity, homelessness, children in foster care, and children who have been adopted. I continue to develop and expand my skills in order to provide the best evidence-based treatments in Salem Washington Academy.
In addition, I am currently engaged in bi-weekly supervision sessions with a LCSW-R. These supervision sessions are required in order for me to receive my R privilege; anticipated March, 2022 (see Informed Consent page). An LCSW who fulfills the requirements of the insurance law for supervised experience providing psychotherapy, and receives the R privilege, is recognized in New York State as a reimbursable psychotherapist.
It is my utmost pleasure and privilege to provide evidence-based therapeutic services to the students and families of Salem Washington Academy. I can not promise that I have all the answers, but I can promise that I will collaborate with all applicable people to problem solve and support your child and your family to the best of my ability.
